The aluminium reinforcement bar is a flat aluminium bar fixed to the outer face of a pre-insulated duct panel so that wide panels do not deflect. Per SMACNA it is required on panel faces wider than 600 mm, and it is also used as transverse reinforcement at duct joints. It is made of aluminium alloy 6063, bonded to the panel with PIR adhesive and riveted, and adds little to the duct weight.
